The W. M. & B. W. Lloyd Charity trust was set up in 1974 and is written principally for the benefit of the “residents and those educated in the old borough of Darwen as constituted in 1974 and its satellite villages”.
Organisations that help Darwen residents if sited out of the town are able to benefit.
It consists of the original donation by Betty and Billy Lloyd plus a number of other local charities that have been absorbed as their natural life came to a close, plus two legacies.
It is managed by four trustees and eight advisors drawn from different areas of the local community.
